1842 Obituary to Captain Gibbs, from the FAMA: Captain Henry William Gibbs 32 died on January 8th 1842 at Port Adelaide of a stroke. Prior to leaving London in May 1841, he married a lass from Bristol.
Captain Gibbs and the FAMA arrived in Adelaide on November 11th, 1841 and during the next few weeks received the news of the birth of their first child (either via the ALCEMA or the KING HENRY in December 1841).
FAMA's chief officer Mr Buchanan succeeded to the command of the FAMA. He was a native of Kin Cardine (within a short distance of Captain Gibb's native place). Buchanan is a deserving man and will, we doubt not, discharge his onerous duties to the credit of himself and the satisfaction of this ship's owners.
